Dalswinton Estate has a long history of innovation.

In 1788 the first steam boat in Britain sailed on Dalswinton Loch following investment by the then owner, Patrick Miller.

We were at the forefront of windfarm development when we first considered wind farms in 1997.

Today we strive to promote and develop the natural capital of the estate alongside traditional activities such as farming and forestry. Doing our bit to tackle the twin crises of climate change and biodiversity loss are key to shaping the future of Dalswinton Estate.

There are a number of areas where innovation is being used. We are currently working with a new microphone technology, Chirrup, and soil analysis to create a biodiversity base line with bird populations being the indicator species.
