The proposal is to construct and operate a wind farm of 16, 125m high turbines. These would each have a maximum power output of 2 and 3 MW and a combined output of between 32 and 48 MW of electricity, equivalent to the domestic needs of between 19,000 and 29,000 households — enough for the whole of Dumfries. The project is well through its planning application and now rests with the Scottish Executive, who make the ultimate decision. If it gets the go-ahead, work will commence in the Summer of 2005.
